Shirley Wakefield, a resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully in St Joseph’s Hospital, Hospice Unit on September 20, 2011 with family by her side.
Shirley was born in Montreal, QC and moved to Thunder Bay in 1963. She worked at Palm Dairies until her retirement.
Shirley spent many years camping with her husband and her granddaughters. She also loved to socialize with her friends “The Golden Girls” and those at the OLG casino. Shirley’s greatest love and joy in her life was with her family and animals. She loved to laugh and joke around.
Shirley will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Robert Wakefield, her son Charles (Betty Anne) Grey, her granddaughters Christina and Tiffany Grey, Sister Joyce Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her father and mother Leonard and Eva Mckenna, Brother Ronald Mckenna, Sister Lenore Hedgecoe and brother-in-law Alex (Sandy) Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Ivany. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the Service.
