We’ve been working diligently on upgrading our FindAGrave.com accounts with pictures that I have to admit, I’ve slacked on. We have files… Computer, verses the paper ones the house elf never gets around to. And in these computer files are images that I just don’t ever seem to have the time to get to. And so, this week, I’ve been making a concentrated effort to get to all of them. This week is quickly going to be next week… But the Sappington side of the tree is still growing, so I’m just multitasking really. And it’s not all just me, the boys are working like mad. We’re about a week away from our major ‘note restoration’ project. When we hopefully, fix TNG’s little issue for good.
I have to admit, I have trouble with FindAGrave some days. It’s hard to not be able to request memorials for family. It’s harder when you make a request and it gets ignored. It’s hard to have to fill out information on edit tab after edit tab and never know if the people will actually update the memorial. And once or twice I’ve made a mistake and had to write twice to fix it! DOH! But I’m not really writing about that tonight. Tonight I’m writing about why FindAGrave is frigging amazing.
I’d like to introduce you to Maud Parish.
No, I didn’t know Maud. She passed long before I was born. And I don’t think we were related… Although I surprise myself all the time, and she is a Watson by marriage. What’s amazing about Maud here, is that she’s been sitting in my King City Cemetery file since 2009. Horrible, I know, it’s horrible that it’s taken me THIS long to get to these pictures. I’ve given myself a lecture that I’m never going to let things go this long again… I’m going to try my best to make sure that happens.
Maud’s stone claims her husband Thomas Morrison Watson isn’t buried with her, and that made me sort of sad for her. But what was utterly cool was that it listed where Thomas is buried… And this is what’s keeping me plodding through grave after grave upload…
