SOoooooooooooooooo… Spam. Okay, so our Spam filter has apparently been working overtime. If you send changes in to us on FindAGrave, that’s where they’ve been collecting over the last month for some unknown reason. We used to get it all without any trouble, but suddenly it was labeled spam. I think we’re caught up but feel free to e-mail someone if you made a suggestion we’ve missed. We’ve got tree updates for Tillery and Miller just from corrections, much thanks to those who provided insight, especially Mr. Crayne. As well, we’re slowly adding people to cemeteries and filling out bios.
For those who haven’t seen the images yet, we have had some amazing shots taken by Mum and Dad of the Halifax War Memorial. Private John Arthur Bentley’s name is now posted up for all to see and we did try to add some additional photos of the memorial but only one was accepted on the FindAGrave site. We’ll be adding our own pictures to our website as time permits.
Pretty.
ARGH! Much gnashing of teeth.
Okay, Charles Pretty and Sophia Geeves have been on the list of things we’re currently working on, with many delays and complications. We were trying to have these trees flush by the Wedding in December so we could sneak in a zillion questions with some of our older relatives but there are some serious road blocks going on. Charles was in the Military, but for some reason we can’t seem to find documentation beyond one sons’s birth record claiming the Royal Artillery. Lots of hunting still needed…
Part of the issue is that we’re spanning Canada, the US and England in these searches, and ‘Pretty’ is a common word as well as a name. Not to mention those that liked to spell it Prettie or variations there of!
All of this making for good times.
See… Sie, Sy, I could go on. The variations are endless. The See Tree has been growing by leaps and bounds. We’re currently hung up on a record we KNOW exists but can’t seem to get a copy of. In 1788 Herman or Harmon See was born in Sorel, Quebec at an Anglican Church called Christ Church. He is our missing link, between the Sees we have recorded and the huge ancestry that goes back to Sleepy Hollow, New York, to further in Germany and further in France. Of course there’s a transcribed book of records in the Toronto Library that we might actually have to break down and go see that at least quotes the record, but still… A while away from being comfortable with where we’ve gotten to with the See Family. Possible road trips to Kingston and New York in the future 🙂
And that’s about as much time as we have for this update! Jake is working on Tillery’s as we speak, we’re going to try and get records uploaded and stay on top of the madness! Feel free to write if you think there’s something I’ve missed!
