British Home Children Park Lawn Monument

British Home Children Advocacy and Research Association in a cooperative effort with Orphan Boy Films have created a memorial for 75 British Home Children buried in unmarked graves in Park Lawn Cemetery, Etobicoke, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The Monument to these 58 children sent to Canada for indentured servitude by Barnardo Homes also pays tribute to the 17 additional infant deaths of young BHC mothers.  This is a heart breaking reality of British Home Children – It’s estimated that mass graves exist like this across Canada, specifically surrounding areas that housed receiving homes for the children or areas where they were sent for work.

The unveiling of the Monument will occur this Saturday, 1 October 2017 beginning at 12:30 pm.  The Young Guns Quartet and Marion Parsons will be performing, there will be an account of the BHC by Marjorie Kohli and an address by R. J. Huggins of Orphan Boy Films. A Blessing will be laid by Pastor Karen Stanton.  Attendants are encouraged to wear sensible shoes and rain gear if needed. Refreshments will be served at the end of the service.  I strongly encourage any of you who have involvement with the BHC in the Toronto area to attend what will be without a doubt a most beautiful service in memory of these lost souls who have been brought to light by the dedicated efforts of BHCARA.
