Before modern times, women were empowered with their abilities to heal. It was natural to tend the sick, the birthings, to aid those who sought out herbs for health, beauty and wellness. The path of a Healer wasn’t considered evil, it was considered necessary. As times changed, women were forced out of that power, and into a cycle of dependency upon others for knowledge and understanding of their own bodies.
In the new millennium there is a rising movement that speaks of empowering women and reclaiming the right to our own bodies. Some suggest it radical feminism, and others suggest it’s only returning to the ways of our Mothers and Grandmothers. Whatever it is to you, it’s catching on, and it’s moving fast. Women are asking questions, refusing medication, they’re learning about their bodies so they can understand the natural human responses each of us are capable of. They are stepping away from shame and oppression to embrace love, beauty and nature.
In addition to the Craft, in this section you will find a huge Asian contribution. Like my Chinese ancestors, I believe in the flow of energy affects the spiritual as well as the physical. Not every form of older health tradition should be adhered to, but they shouldn't be ignored either. I've added those here that I find most enlightening. Some consider this New Age, I consider it feeding the quest for knowledge and understanding. Most of these beliefs and practices have been around as long as the oldest forms of Witchcraft. It doesn't hurt us to learn or implement these practices along with our other traditions.
This
section of the site deals with a lot of my personal opinions. Your health is a
critical part of life and living, an essential part of spiritual wellness.
Mind, Body and Spirit must have a collected balance in health in order to
function with optimum ability. Never limit yourself in what you can learn while
studying your own body or learning about your health. Ask questions, demand
answers… Never accept a single side to any story. You have a right to your
life, to your health, to your decisions. No one can take that away from you.
