Beautiful Skin
It can be the source of beauty, joy, aggravation or great sensitivity. Your skin is for life, so treating it well is the least you can do for something that is expected to last you well into wrinkles. I've added some skin care remedies and concoctions that might help those with problem areas, but the best advice when taking care of your skin is to take care of your whole body.
Drink plenty of water daily, exercise regularly and watch what you eat. Nurturing your skin can help you to nurture your inner self... You are connected for life. Remember to use an SPF 15 or higher at all times, and if anything comes up that you don't feel comfortable dealing with yourself, consult your dermatologist.
Purifying Skin Scrub
1/2 cup of Virgin Olive
Oil
One cup of Coarse Sea Salt
You can add scent to these recipes, but they can irritate very sensitive, especially around the eyes and mouth. For purely facial use, a smaller grain of salt will be less abrasive and can help loosen more dead skin.
Mix oil and salt in a
small container. Salt mixes can be saved for about one month in an air
tight container.
Slather mixture along your skin in any area where rough or dry skin is apparent.
By causing friction, or rubbing the salt along your skin you're removing the
dead skin cells and revitalizing the new skin underneath with the olive oil.
For dryer skin, add vitamin E oil (5 drops should do) or Aloe Vera Gel (This
will make your mixture more watery, so only 2 Tablespoons of gel are necessary).
Night Time Foot Comfort
Petroleum Jelly
1 thick pair of Cotton Socks
1 Heating pad
Optional: 1 teaspoon of Mint Oil to invigorate or 1 teaspoon of Lavender Oil to relax and nurture.
After a warm bath and
regular foot care, apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly to your feet, paying
special attention to your heels, along your big toes and baby toes. If you
are adding essential oils to the gel, do so before you rub it into your feet by
using a spatula. Rub in
a motion of small tight circles, and if necessary add more than one layer of
gel.
Once feet are completely covered, wrap in cotton or wool socks that are loose
and comfortable enough to be worn all night long.
Set the heating pad up in your bed, approximately where you'll rest your feet
for the night. Leave the pad on for an hour or two before turning in for a
good night's sleep. In the morning, peel off your socks to reveal silky
smooth and pampered toes that are completely refreshed and ready to go.
