Birth Stone Lore:

Opal is a magick stone, said to be of bad luck if worn by one who does not carry it as a birth stone.  Black Opals are sacred to the Goddess, and worn by Witches to increase their power in ritual and craft work.  Opals can fade in colour over time, but when fresh they may contain all the colours in a spectrum.  Because of this it is said that Opals contain every gemstone’s powers and abilities.  In calling Elementals the caster really only needs one opal to represent each Watchtower.

Tourmaline can represent both femininity and masculine balance.  Pink Tourmaline is especially sacred to those born in October, it encompasses the sacred femininity of the Goddess.  Those who wear any colour Tourmaline are protected from unseen dangers, it grants the wearer insight into all situations.

Jasper is a sacred spiritual stone for those born in October.  Although it can come in a variety of different colours, it’s powers stay relatively the same.  Jasper drives away all evil spirits from where it’s kept.  It protects against spider and snake bites, and grants the wearer a natural affinity with animals.  Jasper is a common element in rain spells, and can be used as a physical representation of the Water elemental in Circle casting.

Aquamarine is a stone to gift anyone who suffers from depression with, as it is a spirit lifter.  It is also a stone of water, sacred to Mermaids and a protector of sailors and fishermen alike.
