The Pink Gua
The Pink Gua is represented by the number Two, the Element of Earth, by couples, romance, and all matters of the heart.  Here we should see equality, partnership, and friendship.  Things should always be kept in pairs within the Pink Gua, as two brings harmony, companionship and the energy of creation.

Creating your Romantic Haven

Turn your Romance Gua into a haven of romance and beauty.  Even if your bedroom isn't centered in the Pink Gua, you should focus attention on love and harmony within your personal haven.

The Love Altar
The Love Altar is a basic concept that suggests giving your room a focal point based on encouraging love and amorous behaviours.  To create your own personal Love Altar, find a space in your Pink Gua or bedroom that is high enough to be eye level, but is away from the main flow of your room's energy.  We want to create a small pocket of special energy that draws the attention into the room, rather than just contribute to the main stream of Chi.

Remember that keeping pairs of things in your Pink Gua encourages the kind of Chi you want, so any statues, icons or figures you select for your Love Altar should come in twos.  Consider a cultural theme, as all cultures have their great godly couples of love and devotion.  Whom ever you choose to set upon your altar, make sure their likeness suits your mood.  Romance and passion are all about atmosphere.

Consider a flowering plant with large scented blooms in a decorated pot, or two of them as the case may be.  Exotic bottles set in pairs or small figurines of birds are also especially good, as they liken love birds, who mate for life.

Lighting
Mood lighting is often something that people neglect in their Pink Gua.  But what could be more important than seeing things in the right light?

You have options involving lighting, that go from $1 votive candles, to expensive dimming lights.  Whatever you choose, it must reflect your personal style.  Are you sleek and sexy?  Exotic and elegant?  Cheerful and sassy?  You may need a table lamp, verses an overhead light, or even just new lamp shades.  Keep in mind that red is the colour of passion, and the Chinese strongly believe it has properties in love and lust.

Curtains and window treatments are also a contributing factor to passionate energies.  What do you see out your windows?  It is inspiring or dull?  Would sheers kill your light, or add to your ambience?  For window decorating ideas check out books in your local libraries, or even websites online for more ideas.  You can make anything happen!

Furniture
If you're starting from scratch and have unlimited funds, then choosing the bedroom set, or the right chase for a romantic nook in your Romance Gua isn't an issue.  You need to identify your personal style, and expand your ideas into colours, textures and style.  However I have rarely found unlimited funds to be the case, so if you're like me, you need to work with what you've got.

Consider your furniture arrangement.  Is your bed the center of your room?  Is your headboard placed up against a secure wall so you're feeling safe while you're in it?  How are your dreams and sleep?  How is the energy flow around your bed?  Is there too much furniture, too much clutter?

Eliminating clutter is the first step.  Get rid of anything not necessary.  If it's not an absolute YES then it's a NO!  Donate it to a second hand shop, give it away to a friend...  Don't let it stand in your way any longer.

Another idea to freshen up older furniture is to add a new coat of stain or paint.  What appeals to you?  Maybe stencil something sweet on your drawers or headboard.  Or for those of us that are really crafty, some of those faux finishes can look fabulous.

Ultimately it's all trail and error.  Move things around, play with paint-colour computers at Home Depot...  Whatever you need to do to get the look and feel you want.

Accessories and Textures
It's the small things that count.  Soft pillows, smooth fabrics.  A lovely mesh mosquito net draping over your bed, or pillars with exotic bed hangings.  Find things that are special and sacred to you, and add them slowly.  No one ever said that a your Feng Shui building project needed to be done in one night!
