"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Chinese Proverb
An art as ancient and beautiful as China herself. Feng Shui is the
art of Wind and Water, the art of arranging one's life and possessions
into a harmonious balance with the environment and one's life force.
Feng Shui works towards happiness within the home and good fortune for
it's inhabitants. It is with the coordination of people and
placement of possessions that Feng Shui works it's natural magick.
The following is a way for each of us to add a touch of tradition and
nature to our homes, our rooms, our gardens and our offices. Of
course, Feng Shui consultants are always available, and sometimes
necessary for complex or serious problems. However these
are simple methods of taking control of your space
and your life. Good fortune is yours for the taking and the holding.
This type of Feng Shui is often called the 'Black' method, if you wish a
compass Audit completed, look up Auditors in your area.
Being both Chinese and Canadian, I've had the advantage of my Chinese
Culture, and the English language skills to put it all to good use.
Feng Shui is an Art of Perfection. That doesn't intone it makes
perfection, but it works towards achieving it. As you learn about
Chi, it's flow and what can encourage it to grow, you become your own
Master. There is beauty in everything, sometimes all it takes it
looking at it from the right angle.
The chart below is called a Bagua Chart (Ba-Gwa), a tool which aids in the comprehension of the natural order of a space. The Bagua Chart helps the user to know what is right or wrong with the Chi, or natural energy, of a specific space. By laying the chart over a blueprint, or using one's imagination, it is easy to section off each part of your house, your gardens, even your office space in order to align the coloured Gua with their appropriate area. Each Gua, or coloured area represents a different aspect in life. Be it love, fame or fortune, and must be catered to accordingly. Through the placement of furniture, plants and other meaningful possessions, one can become a part of the natural order of energy within their inhabited space. As well there is the ability to increase the amount of Chi present, therefore making the space 'feel good' and encourage people to be there more often and improve their moods while present.
The Yellow Gua, that of Life Energy and Health, is the center and therefore the
heart of your space. It needs to be tended to with light and love, so that
all who exist within your space will thrive in health and wellness.
The Black Gua, that of Career and Life's
Work, should always be placed at the base of your floor plan or the door or
entryway of the space you're working with. Black is a heavy, centering
thing and will give your space grounding within a hectic world.
The Blue Gua is that of Wisdom and
Learning. This is an excellent place for a study, office, or a library, as we all
wish to grow in wisdom as we grow in age.
The Green Gua is that of Family and Community love. This should be a place of serene life giving energy, as well as that of excitement, growth and change. This is a place where age does not matter, only happiness and togetherness are a necessity.
The Red Gua is that of Perception and Reputation. This is a representation of how people see you, how you or your family is perceived within your community, and your own world.
The Pink Gua, that of Love and Romantic notions. This is where the power to find new love, or the power to keep and nourish established relationships is present. A place for couples, courting and thoughtful daydreaming.
The Purple Gua is that of Wealth and Prosperity. This is where money, and both long and short term finances are focused.
The Grey Gua is that of Travel and Experience. This is where knowledge and insight is gathered to understand lessons learned, in hopes of progressing on to a new level of understanding. Experience can understood as internal travel, but this Gua also reflects physical transportation and the ability to visit new places.
And finally, The White Gua is that of Creative energies, including the energy of Fertility, Children and Youthful dreams. This Gua is the center of Life Force, with abilities in healing and cleansing.
With the use of these tools, and the insight
they grant you, it is possible to change your life, your world, and your Chi,
into something happy and positive. The following are a more in depth
insight into each individual Gua, and what you can do to improve your Chi and
your life. Please enjoy, use these resources in good health and with a
happy heart.

As well, I have included another image that is also an image map, which represents Chinese symbols and figures more closely related to each particular Gua in the Bagua Chart. Simply click the section you have interest in learning about on this image, and it will show you the corresponding BaGua information.
